In order to keep an SMSTS certificate current, safety training needs to be updated every 5 years, making the refresher course essential for those who wish to keep up to date and renew their certificate.
The 2-day SMSTS refresher course will cover a reminder of the basics, along with updates on any changes to legislation, whilst looking at new examples of best practice. Delegates will also gain insight and awareness of HSE strategies and accident trends over the past 5 years.
Delegates will be provided with the GE700 and XA6 publications from the CITB.
Following completion of the course, there will be a multiple-choice test to evaluate delegates’ learning.
SMSTS training needs to be updated every 5 years, making the refresher course essential for those who wish to keep up to date and renew their certificate.
In 2015, the CITB changed its scheme rules, effecting all CITB courses requiring a Refresher course.
A refresher must be undertaken before the current certificate’s expiry date.
These courses include: SMSTS & SSSTS.
It is the delegate/booker’s responsibility to ensure that the existing certificate is within the new scheme rules before booking or sitting a Refresher course..
If a booking is made with HCS Safety and it is found that the certificate’s expiry date does not fall within the scheme rules, HCS Safety does not accept responsibility and will not pay any type of compensation..
This includes any booking made on the sole advice given by HCS Safety regarding CITB’s scheme, as this advice may be misinterpreted by the delegate/booker and the information provided to HCS Safety at the time of booking may be incorrect.
