Health & Safety Advisor

Interviews for this post will be held at our Southampton offices on 21st June 2018

HCS Safety Ltd is continuing to expand its operations in the South and is looking to enhance the team by engaging a further H & S Advisor. The role will be both challenging and varied and will include:

• Provision of H & S advice to our retained clients
• Auditing our clients’ use of our straightforward safety management system
• Visiting new clients and explaining fully how the system works
• Producing risk, COSHH and manual handling assessments
• Assisting with SSIP accreditations for our clients
• Conducting site safety inspections for a variety of clients
• Writing construction phase plans and other site based documents
• Conducting fire risk assessments
• Conducting workplace audits
• Tutoring on accredited courses (CITB/ IOSH/UKATA – subject to experience and qualifications)
• Tutoring on courses such as Risk Assessment, Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, Scaffold Inspection, Work at Height Awareness

Candidate requirements

• A flexible, dynamic, committed person who does not fear change and who fits in well with others
• Good level of confidence with Microsoft Office
• Construction and other workplace safety experience
• A knowledge of the CDM Regulations
• NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
• Presentation/ teaching skills or a willingness to undertake this role
• Exceptional written and spoken communication skills
• A practical, problem solving approach to workplace safety issues
• Enthusiasm and patience
• The ability to think on your feet and respond quickly to clients’ needs
• Superb organisational and interpersonal skills

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 /year

Training Administrator

Full time: 8.00am – 4.30pm / 8:30am – 5.00pm

Administrate all aspects of the training process including, but not limited to:

  • Bookings including joining instructions
  • Allocating tutors and rooms in liaison with Operations Manager (OM) and Consultancy Support Specialist (CSS)
  • Certification
  • Signing in of delegates
  • Updating training database
  • Ordering lunches/ refreshments
  • Ordering publications/ stationery
  • Financial booking duties
  • Issuing course refresher reminders to past delegates (in partnership with CSS)
  • Participate in marketing strategies as directed by OM
  • Setting up classrooms
  • Ensuring course materials and complete and ready to use (on site and off site)
  • Assembling admin packs for tutors
  • Liaising with accrediting bodies over course dates
  • Invoicing for training booked
  • Assist in providing delegate refreshments (excluding lunches)


  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) – including Maths and English
  • Professional face-to-face & telephone manner
  • Office suite Experience

Starting Salary: £18,000 – £20,000 Dependant on Experience
