Who is the training intended for?


For suitable volunteers who wish to become First Aiders.

Aims and Objectives:


To understand the principles of First Aid and casualty assessment. To gain the skills and knowledge needed to carry out the duties of a First Aider in line with current legislation.

Following the course, delegates will be able to:
  • Act safely, promptly and effectively with emergencies at work
  • Use first aid equipment, including the contents of the first aid box
  • Understand the duties of employers and the legal framework
  • Maintain simple factual records on the treatment or management of emergencies
  • Carry out cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
  • Deal appropriately with an unconscious casualty
  • Effectively treat wounds and bleeding
  • Define bone, joint or muscle injuries
  • Give correct first aid treatment for the environmental injuries
  • State appropriate procedures for dealing with poisoning, bites and stings
  • Recognise minor and major medical conditions
  • Manage casualty transportation as required by workplace circumstance

HSE Approved - First Aid at Work
(2 Day Refresher)


Who is the training intended for?

For First Aiders who need to update their skills, candidates should hold a valid HSE Approved First Aid at Work Certificate completed within the last three years (Certificates that  exceeded expiry date by maximum of 28 days will not be valid and a full four day course will need to be completed).

Previous certification will need to be provided before commencement of the course.
