Who is the training intended for?
For suitable volunteers who wish to become First Aiders.
Aims and Objectives:
To understand the principles of First Aid and casualty assessment. To gain the skills and knowledge needed to carry out the duties of a First Aider in line with current legislation.

Following the course, delegates will be able to:
- Act safely, promptly and effectively with emergencies at work
- Use first aid equipment, including the contents of the first aid box
- Understand the duties of employers and the legal framework
- Maintain simple factual records on the treatment or management of emergencies
- Carry out cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
- Deal appropriately with an unconscious casualty
- Effectively treat wounds and bleeding
- Define bone, joint or muscle injuries
- Give correct first aid treatment for the environmental injuries
- State appropriate procedures for dealing with poisoning, bites and stings
- Recognise minor and major medical conditions
- Manage casualty transportation as required by workplace circumstance
