HCS has provided CDM services since the company was first formed as Hampshire Construction Services Ltd in 1996. Since then we have developed a full understanding of the Regulations and how they sit within the legal framework for health and safety in the UK.
We appreciate that considerable improvements in safety for construction and maintenance work can be gained by the early provision of competent advice; the thorough planning and appreciation of present and future risks is essential for a successful project and the long term future of the building throughout its changing life.
Many of our current clients have engaged our services as CDM coordinator on a regular basis over many years, and we hope that this is because of the service we provide. The majority of our new work comes from personal recommendation, which we appreciate; we do not actively promote our CDM service. We believe that we can truly do our best work when we form an open partnership with our clients and other members of the project team.
Our professional approach to the role of CDM coordinator is based on a genuine desire to improve safety and health for those involved in construction work and those involved in maintenance
work in the future and of course to assist the client to comply with their duties to do the same. We feel that it is essential to have a good, practical appreciation of the impact that design decisions can have on both the clients’ future responsibility and to those included in the work.
Over the years we have been involved in a wide variety of projects ranging from new build construction on both green and brown field sites, refurbishment, housing and M&E specialist works.
Our clients include Allianz, BBC Monitoring, BAE Systems, MFD, EADS Astrium and TAG Farnborough Airport.
We feel that through this wide range of work we have been able to enrich our understanding of different construction methods and approaches. Our ability to advise effectively is enhanced by each new project we are involved in as there are always new challenges to be met. Construction work is dynamic and exciting and we feel fortunate to have been able to learn from such diverse projects. However, where we are involved in projects that have a high technical content or a specialist field, we seek assistance from designers engaged on the project, or from other experts, some that we have worked with for many years.
